TOUR ITINERARY

Your Private Siena Walking Tour will begin with a visit to the Basilica of San Domenico, a 13th century Gothic church much frequented for its venerated relics of Saint Catherine, patron saint of Italy and Europe.

Your tour will continue to the Banca Monte dei Paschi, a magnificent palace-like bank that was founded in 1472; it is considered to be the oldest surviving bank in Europe and is in fact still active.

From here, your guide will walk you to the nearby Piazza del Campo, a shell-shaped square that is the undoubted center of Siena’s vibrant city life. As your guide will explain, this is where the famed and exhilarating Palio horse race takes place twice a year. TOUR ITINERARY

This full day excursion will take you on a fantastic journey to discover two of the most beautiful medieval towns of Tuscany: Siena and San Gimignano. Your first stop will be Siena which, along with Florence and Pisa, is one of the leading art cities in Tuscany. Throughout the centuries, this city has managed to preserve its handsome medieval character.

Your tour will begin with a visit to the Basilica of San Domenico, a 13th century Gothic church much frequented for its venerated relics of Saint Catherine, patron saint of Italy and Europe. You will continue to the Banca Monte dei Paschi, a magnificent palace-like bank that was founded in 1472; it is considered to be the oldest surviving bank in Europe and is in fact still active. From here, you will have some free time in Siena. You can either keep exploring the city on your own or choose to have lunch in one of the delicious restaurants in the area. Just be sure to return on time to continue your tour to San Gimignano!

The town’s fourteen medieval towers are visible from a great distance, giving the hilltop settlement a remarkable and unforgettable skyline. Like Siena, San Gimignano is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Tuscany, boasting beautiful buildings such as churches and palazzos. The tour will take you to the wonderfully preserved main square called the Piazza della Cisterna, and there you will visit the 13th century the Palazzo del Popolo, San Gimignano’s town hall.

At the end of your visit meet your driver again to return to your accommodation in Florence.

TOUR ITINERARY

You will depart with your private driver for a full day excursion to the beautiful Tuscan cities of Pisa and Lucca.

Pisa is best known its Leaning Tower, considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, however it offers much more in terms of artistic and architectural treasures. The tower shares the Piazza dei Miracoli with the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Duomo of Pisa, as well as St John’s Baptistery. These three beautiful marble buildings are all stunning examples of Pisan Romanesque architecture, and are in fact the originators of this style which later spread through Tuscany. Other beautiful examples of Pisan architecture are the Duomo of San Martino, the Church of San Michael in Foro, and the Basilica of San Frediano in Lucca.

From Pisa, you will continue your tour to Lucca, famous above all for its intact Renaissance Era city walls. These fortifications have long since lost their purpose and are now a poetic pedestrian promenade going around the town’s old section. While in Lucca, you will have time to visit all the gorgeous churches, palaces and gardens on your own time. At the end of your visit, meet with your driver to return to your hotel.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your guide will meet you in front of the Accademia Gallery or your hotel, if central located,  for a three hour walking tour of Florence. The city’s ancient centre will be the spectacular frame for this walking tour dedicated to Florence’s glorious past as well as its vibrant modern life. The slow pace will allow you to discover and enjoy the most important monuments of the birthplace of the Renaissance.

You will begin at the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the famed Duomo whose dome built by Brunelleschi dominates the skyline. Nearby is the Baptistry of San Giovanni, renowned for its golden doors but especially the one nicknamed “Porta del Paradiso”, an exquisite beauty. As you continue the walking tour, you will see elegant palaces, fashionable shops and pass through a number of narrow but charming medieval streets. Piazza della Signoria, your next stop, has been the political complex of Florence since the 1300’s when Florence was considered the richest city in Europe. The L-shaped square is where you will find the Palazzo Vecchio, the Loggia dei Lanzi and, a few steps away, the Uffizi Gallery. Continue to Ponte Vecchio, an ancient bridge that spans the Arno River and is recognized the world over. This bridge attracts much curiosity not only for its unique and charming appearance but also for the fabulous jewelry shops that line both its sides. The tour will end at the Accademia Gallery of Fine Arts Museum where you will have the opportunity to admire the symbol and eternal masterpiece of Florence: Michelangelo’s David. The museum also houses several of Michelangelo’s other works and an impressive collection of pieces by other masters such as by Paolo Uccello, Domenico Ghirlandaio and Sandro Botticelli.

From here, you are free to explore the city on your own. We suggest relaxing in the nearby Botanical Gardens or, if you are feeling hungry, making your way back toward the Duomo of Firenze and trying one of the restaurants around the cathedral piazza.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and drive you toward the Castelli Romani for your full day tour. This excursion will take you through the lovely countryside surrounding Rome and to the fantastic residences of ages past.

The Castelli Romani (“Roman Castles”) is a group of communes in the province of Rome which include Frascati, Marino, Albano and Castel Gandolfo. These ancient hill towns of classical and medieval origin are celebrated for their lush green scenery, volcanic lakes, authentic cuisine, and local white wines. The area was initially frequented by wealthy Roman families who built magnificent palaces to enjoy the fresher climate during the summer. During the medieval period, powerful noble families took over the towns and began constructing more beautiful residences. Then, during the 16th and 17th centuries, aristocratic Romans renovated the palaces or built their own luxurious ones. At that time, popes were also erecting their own villas; in fact, Castel Gandolfo became the property of the Holy See and became a summer residence for the various popes.

Your full day tour will include independent visits of Frascati, a culturally and gastronomically rich city; the Abbey of San Nilo, built in the 9th century in Grottaferrata; the San Barnaba Church, built in the 17th century; and the famous wine fountain in Marino. You will also visit the Church of San Tommaso, on Caelian Hill, and Castel Gandolfo, the papal summer residence still used today. You will have some free time to stop for lunch and a wine tasting in Castel Gandolfo. You will be returned to your hotel in Rome at the end of the tour.

Drawn from the collection assembled by Cardinal Scipione Borghese in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, the Borghese Gallery includes major works by Raphael, Rubens, Titan, Caravaggio, Bernini, Antonello da Messina and Canova. This collection is housed in the former Villa Borghese Pinciana, which was built between 1607 and 1613, with further extensions and improvements being implemented in the following years. The villa, along with its impressive collection, was eventually purchased by the state in 1902.

The stunning architecture and decoration of the gallery create the perfect setting for the magnificent paintings and sculptures within. The villa’s large and lush gardens, maintained in the naturalistic English manner, are also worth visiting as they house a number of smaller villas turned museums and various monuments.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your private guide and driver will meet you at your hotel to take you on your fascinating tour highlighting the history of early Christians during the times of the Romans. The tour will begin after getting picked up at your hotel by your guide and driver, and will take you beyond the imposing Aurelian Walls and along the ancient Appian Way to visit one of the catacombs.

The Catacombs of Callisto are one of the biggest and most famous in Rome, dating as far back as the 2nd century. Its galleries, spreading over an area over 20 km large, contain the remains of thousands of Christians, several martyrs and sixteen popes. The walls of this catacomb are decorated with early Christian symbols and beautiful examples of the first religious representations.

If the Catacombs of Callisto are closed, then you will be visiting The Catacombs of San Sebastian instead. These were discovered after the First World War and contain over 100 000 remains spanning a complex 12 km long and spread out through three different levels.

On your way back to Rome, you will stop at the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, considered one of the five great basilicas of Rome. The Basilica was founded by the Roman Emperor Constantine I and is, according to tradition, the burial place of Saint Paul the Apostle. After his execution and burial, Saint Paul’s followers erected a memorial called a “cella memoriae” over his grave. These types of memorials, built in the Byzantine style, were meant to celebrate the person to whom they were dedicated.

You will be returned to your hotel at the end of the tour.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your driver will pick you up at your hotel for your day tour of Tivoli. This excursion will take you to discover Hadrian’s Villa, a large archeological complex, and the Villa D’Este with its magnificent gardens.

Your first stop will be Hadrian’s Villa, which is located in the countryside just a few kilometers from Tivoli. It is surprisingly quiet and not nearly as overcrowded with tourists as some other attractions typically are. Before starting your visit, stop by a little pavilion so you can see a scale model showing the original size of the Villa. The complex covers one square kilometer and contains the ruins of nearly thirty structures; these include palaces, temples, bath houses and theatres. After your visit to Hadrian’s Villa, you will continue to Tivoli and the Villa D’Este. Once you have arrived in Tivoli, you have the choice to explore it on your own or with a local guide who will give you a better understanding of the town’s most famous attractions.

Villa D’Este is a lavish villa that was built by the architect Pirro Logorio over a Benedictine monastery in 1550 for Cardinal Ippolito d’Este, son of Lucrezia Borgia. It was meant as a leisure palace and as such, is richly decorated. The exterior looks modest but the interior boasts many frescoes and paintings by various masters. The main attraction, however, are the gorgeous gardens which span several acres. Their botanical beauty is rivaled only by the huge and elaborate fountains that populate it: from the grandiose “Organ Fountain” and “Fountain of the Dragons” to the “Hundred Fountains”. There is even a miniature watery reproduction of Rome.

At the end of the tour you will be driven back to your hotel in Rome

TOUR ITINERARY

Meet your private guide at the designated meeting point just outside the Vatican Museums. From there, your half day private tour of the Vatican will begin in the galleries of the Vatican Museums, home to the most celebrated art collection in Europe.

This collection includes artifacts, sculptures, frescoes and mosaics from antique to modern times that originate from all over the world. Throughout the centuries, Popes started to collect objects from ancient Egypt, ancient Rome and the Etruscan civilization, as well as from the first churches and basilicas ever built –a task which they pursue to this day. Some highlights from the Vatican collection include artworks by Giotto, Raphael, Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Titian and Bellini. The tour will take you throughout the various rooms and hallways that compose the Vatican Museums until you eventually arrive in the last room: the spectacular Sistine Chapel, extreme expression of Michelangelo’s genius.

Last but not least, you will visit the largest sanctuary of Christianity, St. Peter’s Basilica, where proportions seem to have been forgotten in an amazing triumph of marble, bronze and mosaic works. Many artists and architects worked on this massive undertaking, resulting in the fantastic artistic and architectural wonder in front of you now.

End the tour in St. Peter’s Square, as your guide points out Bernini’s ingenious use of optical illusion.

TOUR ITINERARY

Meet your private guide at the designated area just outside the Colosseum, site of the legendary battles between gladiators. Stepping inside, you will be transported back to a time where the Roman Empire was one of the most powerful empires in the world; looking across the amphitheatre, it is almost possible to hear thousands of spectators cheering for the games once held. The tour carries on to the Roman Forum where you will explore the ruins of this ancient political, religious and commercial center. Take your time climbing up to Palatine Hill, the legendary birthplace of Rome; the top of the hill offers a splendid view of the Eternal City and the nearby Circus Maximus. The tour will end at the Capitoline Hill, where the holiest of Roman temples once stood: the Temple to Jupiter and the temple dedicated to the Capitoline Triad: Jupiter, Juno and their daughter Minerva.

TOUR ITINERARY

Meet your driver to begin your private, full day excursion to the awe-inspiring Dolomite Mountains.

The Dolomites, as they are more commonly referred, are a mountain range in the northern region of Italy, part of the Eastern Alps. Their name stems from the minerals that compose it, which give the mountains a light pink and coral color when the sun sets.

Your first stop will be Misurina, passing via the scenic Auronzo di Cadore (alt. 1759m / 5770ft). There, you will be able to admire Lake of Misurina, the largest natural basin of the Cadore region. Walking around the lake, you will be able to spot several summits: to the north are the “Tre Cime di Lavaredo”, to the east the “Cadini”, and to the south the “Marmarole” and the “Srapiss”. After your visit to Misurina, you will continue to Cortina via the “Passo Tre Croci” (1805m).

Cortina, the capital of the Dolomites, is a winter sports and summer resort with an international reputation. Set in the heart of the Dolomites at an altitude of 1210m / 4000ft, Cortina is one of the best spots to enjoy the magnificent mountain scenery. While you are here, we suggest an excursion to the “Tofana di Mezzo”, the third highest peak in the Dolomites. It is accessible by a cable car which climbs to 3244m / 10 643ft and offers a superb panorama over the surrounding mountains. While in Cortina, you will have some time to get lunch. If you wish, the driver can suggest a restaurant.

After lunch you leave Cortina to drive along the “Passo Giau” where you will reach an altitude of 2233m/7382ft. From this height, you will have a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. On the opposite side of the steep road, you will continue to Selva di Cadore, Zoldo Alto and Longarone.

At the end of the excursion, you will be on the highway, bound back for Venice.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your guide will meet you at your hotel for a two hour walking tour of Venice. The city’s harmonious blend of Eastern and Western artistic styles will be the spectacular frame for this tour dedicated to Venice’s glorious past. The slow pace will allow you to discover and enjoy the most important monuments of this once powerful maritime republic.

You will begin with the Doge’s Palace, a palace built with rose and pink marble to house the Doge and the government of the Republic of Venice. The interior is richly decorated with artworks from several famous Renaissance artists such as Veronese, Tintoretto and Titian. From the Doge’s Palace you will see the famous Bridge of Sighs, which links the palace to the prisons to more easily transfer prisoners. Due to its beauty, the bridge is now considered one of the most romantic sights in Venice.

Your tour will then take you to visit the Basilica di San Marco, often referred to as the Golden Cathedral because of the five Byzantine domes that crown it. The Basilica was originally built in 832, then rebuilt in 978 following a fire, however the one we admire today was actually consecrated in 1094. Boasting rich decorations inside and out, the cathedral also contains the mummy of Saint Mark, whose bones were stolen from Egypt by two Venetian merchants.

You will conclude your tour in the impressive Piazza San Marco, symbol of Venice and one of the most famous squares in the world. Bask in its grandeur and admire the buildings, made in different architectural styles, which surround it. From here, you are free to continue exploring Venice on your own.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your private driver will pick you up from the hotel in the morning for your full day tour along the breathtaking Amalfi coastline. This excursion will transport you to a place where nature, culture and food exist in harmony by the sea. You will stop in three of the delightful towns nestled in the small natural bays along the coast: Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. All three offer breathtaking views and the opportunity for spectacular photos.

Your first stop will be Positano, a charming little town built on a cliff and surrounded by turquoise sea. The coast around Positano is in fact considered to be one of the most beautiful areas of the Amalfi Coast. In the 1950s, the town was rediscovered thanks to a nascent tourist industry and has since become a popular attraction.

Next, you will visit Amalfi, the most important town in the area as well as one of the most popular, attracting huge numbers of tourists every year. This picturesque seaside resort, once a thriving trading hub, boasts some wonderful examples of medieval architecture and a long history of famous visitors (such as the composer Richard Wagner).

Continue to the third and last town: Ravello. This ancient and fascinating town was once an important trading port until it was sacked and destroyed by Pisa. Ravello was revived in the 19th century, having been rediscovered by artists, intellectuals and aristocrats. Today, Ravello is a popular tourist destination that offers a rich culture and many beautiful sights.

At the end of your excursion, your driver will return you to your accommodations.

TOUR ITINERARY

Enjoy a full day excursion to the bustling and scenic Island of Capri, taking in the breathtaking views of the blue waters of the Bay of Naples. Together with your private guide, you will be transferred to the pier where you will board the ferry that crosses the Bay of Naples.

Upon arrival at the Marina Grande, Capri’s main port, you will take the Funicular to Anacapri. From here you will visit the highest point of the Island for a panoramic view with a private car and driver. You will visit Villa San Michele, located at the top of the ancient Phoenician Steps. It was built in the early 1900s atop Roman ruins by the Swedish doctor and author Axel Munthe, whose bestselling book “Story of San Michele” tells of his time on Capri. The villa is surrounded by a beautiful shady garden with a terrace that offers a splendid view of the island.

Return to Capri and experience the fashionable shops, hotels and restaurants which line its winding streets. In Piazza Umberto, the city’s main square, there is a lovely white church as well as several open-air cafes where you can sit and watch the world drift by. Leading off the square are medieval looking alleyways and arcades full of shops selling the island’s handicrafts such as clothing, coral and gold jewelry, shoes, and ceramics.

Grab some lunch at leisure then stroll through the colorful Gardens of Augustus, which overlook the famed Faraglioni Rocks and Marina Piccola, Capri’s smaller port. While in Capri, you will have plenty of free time for you to admire the elegant boutiques, stroll along the cobblestoned streets, go on an island tour or simply relax on the beach. This island may be tiny but there is much to see and do!

Your private driver will pick you up in the morning to take you on a fascinating full day excursion to Pompeii.

Located near present-day Naples, Pompeii was an ancient Roman city at the foot of the infamous Mount Vesuvius. During your visit you will discover the public baths, forums, and villas built and used by the inhabitants of Pompeii, as well as a collection of artifacts –from household items to jewelry—recovered from the ashes. You will marvel at the incredibly well-preserved frescoes which still adorn the walls and floors of the villas, and which have allowed visitors and researchers alike to glimpse into what life was like at the time.

Even if your interests do not lie in history, this is an archaeological site that cannot fail to impress you. At the end of your tour, meet with your driver again to return to your accommodations.
