TOUR ITINERARY

Explore Rome’s history with one of ours expert guides. Get lost into the charming ancient streets while discovering the Eternal City’s most famous landmarks and monuments.

Meet your guide at the designated meeting point.

Start this three hours walk from the Unique Piazza Navona famous for the Fountain of the Four Rivers, with its Egyptian obelisk, and the church Sant’Agnese in Agone. The surface of the Piazza shows its baroque soul while its true face is buried underground. Heading north you will reach the Stadio Domiziano. This is what Piazza Navona was: a Roman Stadium. The Emperor Domitian established the fest dedicated to Jupiter and dedicated this stadium to the celebrative shows.

A quick walk and the tour will bring you to visit the Church of San Luigi dei Francesi famous for the cycle of paintings dedicated to St. Matthew’s life by the Baroque genius Caravaggio.

The visit continues toward the Pantheon, one of the best preserved buildings from Ancient Rome.

The tour will now bring you to enjoy the Baroque Church of St. Ignazio dedicated to the founder of the Society of Jesus. A unique feature characterizes this church: as a result of a money shortage the Jesuit hired a painter to depict the dome.

Discover the grandiose Trevi Fountain and, as all visitors do, toss a coin to guarantee your return to this splendid city. The tour ends here.

Now that you are free stop by one of Rome’s many ice cream shops and enjoy a mouth-watering gelato! Otherwise keep walking through Via delle Muratte and reach Via del Corso where you can stroll around like many Romans do.

TOUR ITINERARY

Meet your private guide at the designated area in the beautiful Campo dei Fiori square where you will start your private 3 hour tour of Rome’s Jewish Ghetto.

The Ghetto was established in 1555 and it was under the Papal State’s control until the Italian unification in 1870. It was the last existing ghetto in Western Europe till the Nazi reintroduced them. Its walls were demolished in 1888 and the ghetto was almost completely torn down.

Today the Jewish presence is still very strong thanks to the many Jewish restaurants and stores. Particularly famous are dishes like Baccala’ fritto (fried codfish) or carciofi alla giudia (Jewish-style artichokes); those courses were invented here in Rome by the Jewish community and they became part of the roman traditional cuisine.

You will begin with exploring the characteristic Campo dei Fiori, a lovely square that hosts every morning a large open-air market. Right in the middle of the piazza you can admire the inspiring statue of Giordano Bruno, a famous Dominican Monk condemned as a heretic but honored by freethinkers all around the world.

Leave Campo dei Fiori behind you and discover Piazza Farnese; once the two squares were combined to form a big open space. Today you can enjoy the view of two stunning fountains made from granite bathtubs removed from the Roman Baths of Caracalla.

Your tour will now continue in Via Giulia probably the first Renaissance’s ambitious urban planning project in Rome. You will soon reach the heart of the Ghetto; admire the beautiful Fontana delle Tartarughe (fountain of the Turtle) built to provide drinking water to the populations during the 16th century.

Your next stop will be at the Tempio Grande di Roma. The Great Synagogue was built after the unification of Italy when the Roman Ghetto was destroyed and the Jews obtained citizenship. The building stands out for its eclectic style and its unique square aluminum dome; the Synagogue is easily visible form many points in the city. Your guide will take you through an exhaustive visit of the synagogue and the Jewish Museum of Rome.

The tour will end with the visit of the distinctive Teatro Marcello. The most important theatre in ancient Rome was partly transformed during the 16th century to become the Orsini’s residence.

Now you will be free to explore the area. We suggest a walk alongside the Tiber River located just a few minutes away or to wonder around Via Teatro Marcello until you will reach Piazza Venezia.

Your private guide and driver will meet you at your hotel to take you on your intriguing tour of the underground Rome. The four hour tour will start after getting picked up at your hotel by your guide and driver, and will guide you through the exploration of the treasures hidden below the road surface.

Here concealed under the 17th century church of Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappucini there is the Capuchin Crypt. The Crypt is decorated with bones of 4000 Capuchin friars. The bones are shown in order to make people reflect on subjects like life and death.

Your journey will then bring you close to the Colosseum in Via Labicana. Here the 12th century Basilica of San Clemente will show you how the Eternal City was built, layer after layer. The Basilica was constructed above a 4th-century church that was built out of a Roman nobleman’s home, which, previously, was developed on top of first-century Roman buildings.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and drive you toward the Castelli Romani for your full day tour. This excursion will take you through the lovely countryside surrounding Rome and to the fantastic residences of ages past.

The Castelli Romani (“Roman Castles”) is a group of communes in the province of Rome which include Frascati, Marino, Albano and Castel Gandolfo. These ancient hill towns of classical and medieval origin are celebrated for their lush green scenery, volcanic lakes, authentic cuisine, and local white wines. The area was initially frequented by wealthy Roman families who built magnificent palaces to enjoy the fresher climate during the summer. During the medieval period, powerful noble families took over the towns and began constructing more beautiful residences. Then, during the 16th and 17th centuries, aristocratic Romans renovated the palaces or built their own luxurious ones. At that time, popes were also erecting their own villas; in fact, Castel Gandolfo became the property of the Holy See and became a summer residence for the various popes.

Your full day tour will include independent visits of Frascati, a culturally and gastronomically rich city; the Abbey of San Nilo, built in the 9th century in Grottaferrata; the San Barnaba Church, built in the 17th century; and the famous wine fountain in Marino. You will also visit the Church of San Tommaso, on Caelian Hill, and Castel Gandolfo, the papal summer residence still used today. You will have some free time to stop for lunch and a wine tasting in Castel Gandolfo. You will be returned to your hotel in Rome at the end of the tour.

The villa, along with its impressive collection, was eventually purchased by the state in 1902.

The villa’s large and lush gardens, maintained in the naturalistic English manner, are also worth visiting as they house a number of smaller villas turned museums and various monuments.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your private Southern Tuscany Food & Wine Tour will take you on a charming journey to discover the beautiful towns of Montepulciano and Pienza.

Your driver and guide will meet you at your accommodation in Rome to take you on a full day excursion.

The journey will start immediately while you enjoy the delightful views from the car. Leaving Rome you will head to the North and pass through the gorgeous countryside. In two hours you will reach your first destination: Montepulciano.

The medieval town of Montepulciano is located southeast of Siena on a hill. The city is famous not only for the beautiful historical center but also for the delicious food and wine.

The origins of Montepulciano are Etruscan. When the Romans took over the Etruscan possessions it became a garrison for road patrols. Later the Lombards turned the town into a religious center. During the Renaissance period many beautiful palaces were added to the city. The tour will take you to the wonderfully preserved historical center of the city. During your 90 minutes walk your private guide will showcase you the main sights of the city: the Palazzo Comunale, the town hall designed in the same style as Florence’s, Palazzo Tarugi, and the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, also called the Duomo of Montepulciano.

After the city tour is the time to try the famous wine of Montepulciano! Visiting a historical winery you will taste three famous wines of the area: Rosso di Montepulciano (Red of Montepulciano), Vino Nobile (Noble Wine) and Vin Santo (Holy Wine). These incredible wines will be pared with a mouth-watering “tagliere” a selection of local charcuteries and cheeses.

Montepulciano’s wineries are very interesting. The historical ones have adapted Etruscan tombs into “cantine” (cellars). Those locales maintain the perfect climate all year round, not too cold during the winter and not too hot during the summer.

Now your driver and guide will bring you to visit the unique renaissance town of Pienza. Pope Pius II decided to have the entire village rebuilt as an ideal Renaissance one. Many Italian and European cities later adopted this model. UNESCO declared Pienza a World Heritage Site in 1996. The most important buildings of Pienza are located in the central Piazza PIo II. Your guide will show you the beautiful Palazzo Piccolomini, Palazzo Vescovile and the Duomo.

At the end of Pienza’s tour you will return to your accommodations in Rome.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your private guide and driver will meet you at your hotel to take you on your fascinating tour highlighting the history of early Christians during the times of the Romans. The tour will begin after getting picked up at your hotel by your guide and driver, and will take you beyond the imposing Aurelian Walls and along the ancient Appian Way to visit one of the catacombs.

The Catacombs of Callisto are one of the biggest and most famous in Rome, dating as far back as the 2nd century. Its galleries, spreading over an area over 20 km large, contain the remains of thousands of Christians, several martyrs and sixteen popes. The walls of this catacomb are decorated with early Christian symbols and beautiful examples of the first religious representations.

If the Catacombs of Callisto are closed, then you will be visiting The Catacombs of San Sebastian instead. These were discovered after the First World War and contain over 100 000 remains spanning a complex 12 km long and spread out through three different levels.

On your way back to Rome, you will stop at the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls, considered one of the five great basilicas of Rome. The Basilica was founded by the Roman Emperor Constantine I and is, according to tradition, the burial place of Saint Paul the Apostle. After his execution and burial, Saint Paul’s followers erected a memorial called a “cella memoriae” over his grave. These types of memorials, built in the Byzantine style, were meant to celebrate the person to whom they were dedicated.

You will be returned to your hotel at the end of the tour.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your driver will pick you up at your hotel for your day tour of Tivoli. This excursion will take you to discover Hadrian’s Villa, a large archeological complex, and the Villa D’Este with its magnificent gardens.

Your first stop will be Hadrian’s Villa, which is located in the countryside just a few kilometers from Tivoli. It is surprisingly quiet and not nearly as overcrowded with tourists as some other attractions typically are. Before starting your visit, stop by a little pavilion so you can see a scale model showing the original size of the Villa. The complex covers one square kilometer and contains the ruins of nearly thirty structures; these include palaces, temples, bath houses and theatres. After your visit to Hadrian’s Villa, you will continue to Tivoli and the Villa D’Este. Once you have arrived in Tivoli, you have the choice to explore it on your own or with a local guide who will give you a better understanding of the town’s most famous attractions.

Villa D’Este is a lavish villa that was built by the architect Pirro Logorio over a Benedictine monastery in 1550 for Cardinal Ippolito d’Este, son of Lucrezia Borgia. It was meant as a leisure palace and as such, is richly decorated. The exterior looks modest but the interior boasts many frescoes and paintings by various masters. The main attraction, however, are the gorgeous gardens which span several acres. Their botanical beauty is rivaled only by the huge and elaborate fountains that populate it: from the grandiose “Organ Fountain” and “Fountain of the Dragons” to the “Hundred Fountains”. There is even a miniature watery reproduction of Rome.

At the end of the tour you will be driven back to your hotel in Rome

TOUR ITINERARY

Your private driver will pick you up in the morning to bring you on a charming full day excursion to Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio, two gorgeous central Italy towns.

Your first stop will be Orvieto which is one of the leading art cities in Umbria. Thanks to its unique location and its stunning defensive tuff‘s walls Orvieto is considered one of the most spectacular towns in Europe.

Your driver will leave you in the central Piazza del Duomo. From here you can start your tour of Orvieto on your own time. We suggested to begin with the visit of the 13th century Duomo di Orvieto (Orvieto’s Cathedral) with its five bells added during the renaissance period. Then you may continue your tour exploring Via del Duomo surrounds by numerous beautiful buildings. Keep walking until you arrive in front of the 13th century Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo (Palace of the Captain of the people). Going back on Via del Duomo make a right turns on Corso Camillo Benso until you reach the beautiful Palazzo Comunale. While you wandering around this enchanting city try one of the many delicious restaurants that the town offers; the truffle pasta is Orvieto’s specialty dish. Afterwards meet again your driver who will take you to the unique Pozzo di San Patrizio (St. Patrick’s well). Once you arrive at the well you can decide if you want to go down the 248 steps or just admire the building from the outside.

Your tour will now continue with the visit of the city of Civita di Bagnoregio a unique small town that dangerously hangs from a tuff hill. Your driver will stop on a panoramic terrace opposite to the city to give you the opportunity to enjoy a stunning view of Civita di Bagnoregio. You will then reach the spectacular bridge that connects the city with the rest of the world.  As you cross the bridge you will pass through the Etruscan Gate and you will be able to walk around the city admiring the beautiful medieval buildings with their magnificent Renaissance doors that lead nowhere; visit the nice San Donato Church. A small terrace is located at the end of the main street; from here you can enjoy a beautiful view over the Calanchi Valley.

At the end of your visit meet your driver again to return to your accommodations in Rome.

TOUR ITINERARY

Your full day private Jewish Tuscan Community Tour will take you on a fascinating journey to discover the beautiful medieval towns of Pitigliano and Sorano.

Your driver and guide will meet you at your hotel to take you on a full day excursion.

The journey will start immediately while you enjoy the enchanting views from the car. Leaving Rome you will head to the North and pass through the beautiful countryside of Lazio and Tuscany. In less than two hours you will reach your destination: the province of Grosseto.

Your fist stop will be Pitigliano which is also called The Little Jerusalem thanks to the historical presence of a well integrated Jewish community.

For many centuries this was a border city between the Gran Duchy of Tuscany and the Papal State. The Jewish community grew thanks to the numerous people that escaped from Rome to avoid persecution during the Counterreformation period.

The community was so well integrated with the rest of the population that during the fascism all the Jews were able to escape capture thanks to the help of their Christian fellow citizens. Today there are almost no Jews in town but the 16th century synagogue is still officiated from time to time and it is possible to visit many of the spots where the community lived.

Here you will have some free time; you can either continue exploring the city on your own or have lunch in one of the Pitigliano’s delicious restaurants. Be sure to be back on time to continue your tour to Sorano!

The small town of Sorano has managed to preserve its striking medieval character throughout the centuries. This ancient village is located on a tuff stone hill right over the Lente River. Sorano’s ghetto was established in 1619 by the Medici family. It is still possible to spot the signs left by the revolving doors used to close the ghetto at night.

Like in Pitigliano the Jewish community left the city during the 20th century; although its presence is still strong. Your guide will show you the sign of the Synagogue, the oven of unleavened bread and other old buildings.

At the end of your tour your driver will bring you back to your accommodations in Rome.

TOUR ITINERARY

Meet your private guide at the designated meeting point just outside the Vatican Museums. From there, your half day private tour of the Vatican will begin in the galleries of the Vatican Museums, home to the most celebrated art collection in Europe.

This collection includes artifacts, sculptures, frescoes and mosaics from antique to modern times that originate from all over the world. Throughout the centuries, Popes started to collect objects from ancient Egypt, ancient Rome and the Etruscan civilization, as well as from the first churches and basilicas ever built –a task which they pursue to this day. Some highlights from the Vatican collection include artworks by Giotto, Raphael, Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Titian and Bellini. The tour will take you throughout the various rooms and hallways that compose the Vatican Museums until you eventually arrive in the last room: the spectacular Sistine Chapel, extreme expression of Michelangelo’s genius.

Last but not least, you will visit the largest sanctuary of Christianity, St. Peter’s Basilica, where proportions seem to have been forgotten in an amazing triumph of marble, bronze and mosaic works. Many artists and architects worked on this massive undertaking, resulting in the fantastic artistic and architectural wonder in front of you now.

End the tour in St. Peter’s Square, as your guide points out Bernini’s ingenious use of optical illusion.

TOUR ITINERARY

This fascinating tour of Rome follows the footsteps of the protagonist from Dan Brown’s best-selling novel “Angels and Demons”. Meet with your private guide and driver at your hotel to get started. You will have the car at your disposal for the duration of the tour.

Your first stop will be the Basilica of Santa Maria Del Popolo, an Augustinian church built in the 15th century, where you will be able to admire the Ceraci Chapel canvasses by Caravaggio and the Chigi Chapel designed by Raphael. After that you will visit the Church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, a Baroque church which houses Bernini’s masterpiece: ”The Ecstasy of St. Teresa”.

From there you will continue by car to Tiber Island, taking the panoramic view, then to Piazza della Minerva. Nearby is the Pantheon, an ancient temple once dedicated to the old Roman gods, best known for its stunning architecture, sculptures, tombs, and the impressive oculus that lets daylight into the building. Continue to Piazza Navona where you will see another work of art by Bernini: the magnificent ”Fountain of the Four Rivers’’, an Egyptian obelisk rising from its middle. These four rivers are the Nile, representing Africa; the Danube, representing Europe; the Ganges, representing Asia; and the Río de la Plata, representing America.

From Piazza Navona, you will continue to the Castel Sant’Angelo, also known as the Mausoleum of Hadrian, and the Passetto di Borgo, a long corridor which connects Castel Sant’Angelo to the Vatican. Last but not least, you will visit Saint Peter’s Basilica, the largest sanctuary of Christianity where proportions appear to have been forgotten in an amazing triumph of marble, bronze and mosaic works.
